MTR is proud to announce that we will distribute the AccuRx Elastomeric Ambulatory Infusion System. Similar to other elastomeric devices such as the Iflo eclipse, and Baxter Intermate, the AccuRx is designed to provide accurate and safe infusions in the homecare environment. This flexible product offers a wide variety of rates and volumes for antibiotic and chemo therapies as well as post-operative pain management. Some key features of the AccuRx are its partial hard shell design, easy to read color-coded flow rate label, and its air-eliminating membrane. It is a lightweight, elastomeric pump that has the strength of a traditional hard shell without the bulk, and provides patients the comfort and convenience that other traditional therapies do not. The AccuRx is also compatible with many drugs, including daptomycin. To order, please call Medical Technology Resources at 888.250.5699.

The Food and Drug Administration has ordered Baxter International Inc. to recall 200,000 of the company’s Colleague brand pumps, escalating its scrutiny of infusion pumps used primarily in hospitals to deliver fluids to patients. The FDA said the Deerfield, Ill.-based drug and device maker must “recall and destroy” all of its Colleague pumps, saying the action was based on “a long-standing failure” of the company to correct serious problems with them. The FDA said infusion pumps, including Baxter’s Colleague, had caused “persistent safety problems.” In the last five years, the FDA has received more than 56,000 reports of adverse events that included serious injuries and more than 500 deaths. The medical product giant said it worked with the FDA to minimize disruption to hospitals using the Colleague pumps. The company will be offering healthcare facilities the opportunity to exchange the pumps without charge.Baxter will offer to exchange its Sigma Spectrum infusion pumps for the Colleague brand.
Please contact Medical Technology Resources for your infusion pump needs.

Medical Technology Resources donated various medical supplies, including IV extension sets, syringes, needles, gloves, etc., in order to provide the Haiti victims with much needed medical items. Working in conjunction with the Open Hands Disaster Relief, Amy Sheets from the Vineyard Church of Columbus came in to collect a truckload of the donated items. Featured in the picture, Warehouse Manager Fred Frick assists Amy with the loading of the medical supplies.
Here at MTR, we were deeply affected by the tragedy in Haiti. We believe it is important to always give back, not only to our immediate community, but our surrounding neighbors in other countries as well. We know that every little bit helps and we were glad to be a part in supporting this important cause.

As you can gather from our blog, MTR is philanthropically involved with the Make-A- Wish Foundation® of Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, Central Ohio Region. Recently, we granted the wishes of two children – Tyler and David.
Tyler is a 16-year-old boy diagnosed with lymphoma. Tyler fits right in with MTR because he loves The Ohio State University Buckeyes. His wish was for a brand new set of electronics. For his wish, he received a 50” plasma screen television, two 26” LCD televisions, and an XBox 360 Elite. See his picture below.
David is a 15-year-old boy battling a brain tumor. He, like Tyler, also loves the Buckeyes. His wish was for a hot tub so he and his family could all enjoy it. See his picture below.
Tyler and David are two great kids that deserved these wishes and MTR is pleased to have been able to make them come true.
If you would like to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, please visit the Chapter’s Web site at www.makeawishohio.org.

Oncology consulting firm expands services to help practices provide care to cancer patients.
A recent report from the American Cancer Society cites cancers as the second leading cause of death for Americans, responsible for 23% of all deaths in the US.
“Every day, new research is being conducted to help find new cancer treatments, educate the public and ease the suffering of those with cancer,” said John Lohrman, Vice-President of Medical Technology Resources, LLC, an oncology consulting firm.
As an example, Lohrman cited a study released earlier this week by the University of Toledo and slated for presentation at an international conference hosted by the American Association for Cancer Research that identified a gene related to lung cancer risk.
“All this great research is creating hope for people who suffer from cancer,” Lohrman said. “At Medical Technology Resources, we not only care about research to change the future, we care about helping cancer patients who are suffering today.”
According to Lohrman, the company recently expanded its oncology consulting services to help practices tailor their services around their patients’ therapies inside or outside the practice.
“Our service allows practices to buy, lease or rent IV equipment for out patient care,” Lohrman explained. “We have great respect for the practices that provide home care for cancer patients. Our goals are to help those practices provide the best care possible to their patients and run successful businesses.”
Andrew Amicon, President & CEO of Medical Technology Resources, states that Medical Technology Resources’ consultants have years of experience in helping practices care for patients. “Now we offer outpatient practices a full range of services, including third party billing, assistance in utilizing the latest ambulatory infusion pump technology, twenty-four seven on call service, and creative financing options for practices to acquire equipment.
“Our mission is to serve the people who care for the patient,” Amicon said
