The Second Annual BIG Wish Gala presented was a big success, raising approximately $760,000 and attracting more than 730 attendees. Eighty Wishes were granted to children with life threatening illnesses from the money raised at the BIG Wish Gala.  MTR Health was a sponsor of this special event and continues to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation on an annual basis. MTR Health also contributed to the Ultimate OSU Fan Live Auction which garnered $42,000. Guests were treated to a spectacular view of Ohio Stadium in a large clear-span tent that sprawled from the south end zone to the 50-yard line along with an intimate performance by Country Music Superstars Rascal Flatts. The star-studded event, hosted by NBC 4 Anchor Colleen Marshall, also featured ESPN College Football Analyst Kirk Herbstreit, OSU Men’s Basketball Coach Thad Matta, OSU Head Football Coach Jim Tressel, as well as many legendary football players. “The success of the BIG Wish Gala will help us to eliminate our backlog of pending wishes and continue to provide ‘BIG Wishes’ for courageous children,”  said President & CEO Susan McConnell. On May 22^nd 2010, the Second Annual Big Wish Gala will take place on the 50-yard line at the legendary Ohio Stadium in Columbus, OH. Medical Technology Resources donated various medical supplies, including IV extension sets, syringes, needles, gloves, etc., in order to provide the Haiti victims with much needed medical items. Working in conjunction with the Open Hands Disaster Relief, Amy Sheets from the Vineyard Church of Columbus came in to collect a truckload of the donated items. Featured in the picture, Warehouse Manager Fred Frick assists Amy with the loading of the medical supplies.

Here at MTR, we were deeply affected by the tragedy in Haiti. We believe it is important to always give back, not only to our immediate community, but our surrounding neighbors in other countries as well. We know that every little bit helps and we were glad to be a part in supporting this important cause.

On August 15th, Medical Mutual hosted the 10th Annual Walk for Wishes, a huge event for the Make-A-Wish foundation. MTR participated in the walk as MTR Walk for Thomas. MTR employees, along with family and friends, walked in order to raise a wish for Thomas. One of our employees even brought her baby golden retriever, Kapono, on the walk with her! See picture below. It was a beautiful day and there were thousands of people there all in support for a great cause. The walk was a 5k and Kapono actually made it through 2/3 of the walk - but then he had to be carried the rest of the way! MTR raised over $2500 for Thomas. Thomas is still undecided on his wish. Donations are still being accepted always on the Make-A-Wish website. If you want to donate to Thomas, then you just have to enter in MTR Walk for Thomas on the Ohio link.

A few weeks ago, we blogged about the Make A Wish 25^th anniversary gala that MTR would be attending. The gala was a HUGE success! Over $840,000 was raised and there were over 860 guests from all across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana!

MTR donated part of the “Be the Ultimate OSU Fan” package for the live auction. The package contained 8 premier seats on the 50 year line at Ohio Stadium for the Minnesota game, pre-game sideline passes, and a photo with Jim Tressel. It also includes a private dinner with Jim Tressel and his wife Ellen at M, a prestigious restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. This auction package went for $20,000! This is equivalent to 3 Wishes.

This year, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana is celebrating its 25^th Anniversary! In honor of this great achievement, they will be holding a gala on May 9^th, 2009, on the 50 yard line in Ohio Stadium. MTR will be in attendance at this event. There will be a gourmet dinner, a silent auction, and a performance by the Rascal Flatts. For the silent auction, MTR will be donating 4 Ohio State football tickets for a game during the 2009 season.

In honor of their 25^th Anniversary, Make-A-Wish is asking for donations of airline miles. They are aiming to collect 25 million airline miles to fulfill the wishes of children who wish to visit other places all over the world.

MTR attended the Annual Managed Health Care Associates (MHA) Business Summit in Las Vegas, NV on March 19th and 20th. This conference was primarily for closed long term pharmacies. There were attendees from all over the contiguous 48 states from many different pharmacies. MTR presented pole-mounted IV pumps and ambulatory IV pumps that are widely utilized in the long term care arena. We believe the conference was very successful and we enjoyed meeting plenty of new people as well as having the opportunity to visit with our existing customers.

We would like to thank all the MHA staff for all their help in making this conference a success. We look forward to hearing from all the attendees that we met!

MTR attended the National Home Infusion Association (NHIA) Conference this year in Baltimore, Maryland from March 1^st to the 5^th. However, it didn’t start off on a good foot for us. Our booth display was misplaced so we were unable to exhibit on the opening night. Fortunately, our booth arrived bright and early Monday morning and we were able to get it up for the second day of exhibiting. We had a great location at the end of the aisle close to the NHIA information center. We made numerous first introductions to home infusion companies from across the United States and Puerto Rico. MTR looks forward to the opportunity to provide our first rate service to these home infusion companies!  At our booth, we showcased a variety of ambulatory and pole-mounted infusion pumps that we provide.  We were able to generate a lot of traffic to our booth because we were a participant in the NHIA Bingo game. We donated a $100 gift card to Southwest Airlines, which was great for everyone who was thinking about planning their summer vacations!

A special thanks to the NHIA staff for all their help, especially with helping us track our lost booth! MTR definitely looks forward to exhibiting at the 2010 NHIA Conference in Dallas. We would also like to thank all the NHIA attendees that stopped by our booth to chat with us and we look forward to hearing from you!

It was a perfect day last Saturday for the Make A Wish Walk. Team “Tyler & MTR” walked 3 miles in support of Tyler and Make A Wish. MTR staff, family, and friends all came out for the event. We had a total of 16 people on our team – see picture below.

We have reached 75% of our set goal. Donations are still being accepted up till August 29^th. Directions on donating are listed below. Help us make Tyler’s wish of going on a Caribbean cruise with his family come true!

Last year, MTR granted the wishes of two children. It was such a fulfilling experience that we decided to participate in the Make a Wish Walk for Wishes by forming a team. “Team Tyler & MTR” has a goal to raise $6,000 to grant the wish of a child. This is the average amount it takes to grant a child’s wish.

With $6,000, MTR will be able to grant the wish of Tyler who is battling Burkitt’s Lymphoma. Burkitt’s is a dangerous non-Hodgkins Lymphoma that generally strikes people between the ages of 12-30. Tyler is currently undergoing a difficult chemo regimen. He hopes that he will be able to fulfill his wish by going on a Caribbean Cruise with his family in December.

The 3-mile family friendly walk will be held at Creekside Park in Gahanna on August 16th at 9:30 am. It will begin and end at Creekside and will wind through the beautiful trails of Gahanna’s parks. At the end of the walk, everyone is welcome to join us to celebrate The 25^th Anniversary of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. The party will include family entertainment for all ages including live music, mascots, activities, and a light meal for all event participants and volunteers. We hope you will be able to join us!
