MTR employees participated in the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure this past Saturday. The Columbus Komen race is one of the top 10 largest Komen races in the world. In 1998, there were 875 participants that raised $50,000. This year, there were 40,266 participants and about $2 million was raised for breast cancer research, screening, treatment, and education. With these numbers, it is more and more apparent every year that more people are fighting to cure breast cancer. There is no doubt that this event will keep growing every year. So join all of us at MTR next year and help us fight breast cancer!

On April 15th, John Lohrman, VP, and Luis Hernandez, Region Manager of Florida, visited Mercy Hospital in South Florida. They spoke to two oncology practices…entirely in Spanish. Spanish is the second most common language in the United States and it is still growing because of the proliferation of Hispanic immigration into the United States each year. Inadequate communication between a doctor and his Spanish-speaking patient contributes to difficulties in health care. Consequently, numerous hospitals are now employing people who speak Spanish.
MTR understands the necessity of embracing other cultures and of providing health care services in the Spanish language. In fact, if you look at the MTR homepage, there is a note that says “Se Habla”, meaning we speak Spanish.
